launch viper one

viper no. 2

In future project news, did you know that Kate (other Kate) has started a lace knit-a-long? Lace, woohoo! (say in a Hiro Nakamura voice) We're starting on February 1, and I've decided on the Aeolian shawl and some lovely Habu superfine merino:

habu

I'm excited! I've done a few lace projects before, but this is much more complicated. Nupps and beads and three million charts, oh my! If you are interested in making 2010 a lacey year you should join us too! Just head over to Lazy Kate Creates and drop her a line.

Those socks are perfect- I'm not even kidding. That yarn and the stitch definition! Whoever is receiving them is sooooo lucky!

I am knitting-along as well, but I still haven't picked yarn or pattern! You are way ahead ofme.

I do have some Malabrigo lace in a glorious yellow-ochre colour which is definitely a love-it-or-hate-it thing, which I most certainly love. I might use that, or perhaps some lovely Madeline Tosh laceweight merino in a rich dark chocolate brown, which I also love. OR I have some Posh yarn in a deep plum colour not dissimilar to yours. But I still haven't picked a pattern! I'm planning to pick the yarn first and then a pattern to match - because in my experience when I pick the pattern first, I always end up deciding I need to buy new yarn to use for it!!

Glorious sparkly socks, too :)

Those cabled socks are beautiful. I'm just learning to knit socks, but I think I will do lacy socks for the lace knit-along. The Aeolian shawl is gorgeous!

Hi Kate!

I'm Jenny from Sweden, and I thought I would introduce myself as I'm also in the Adventures in Lace KAL with the other Kate. I have a blog roll on my blog with all the participants, and I figure I should at least know who I'm plugging, right?

I just finished my first Aeolian, and I love it! The pattern is great and easy to understand, and I will definitely make it again. Although not right now, there are too many patterns that I want to make for the first time first :)

I LOVE the photos of your sweet cat, I also have an orange kitty. Well, he's 3.5 years old now, but he still behaves like a little kitten. He's a Devon Rex breed, as both me and my husband are allergic to other breeds, and his name is Hobbe (which is the swedish translation of Hobbs).

I'm really looking forward to getting to know all the participants of the KAL, and see what all of us make!

I love that you suggested Miyazaki film- have you seen Howl's Moving castle? I think it's my favorite of his! Thanks for your suggestions! I'm going to watch North & South right now!

Hello, I'm just cruising thru the Blog Train on Ravelry & letting you know I was here. I saw the Adventures in Lace buttons, and thought about joining in, but I just this morning chimed in on the Harlot's Knitting Olympics & don't think I could stand any more pressure! Wish me luck!
